It’s hard to believe that we are in Week 8 of Term 2. After the whirlwind of Term 1 and the associated limitations of COVID -19, in many ways, it seems much longer than one term. Yet, there are still some things we need to be cautious about or wait for an official government decision before we can proceed.  Hopefully, a continued negative tally of COVID-19 cases might mean that by the end of the term, more restrictions will be lifted within South Australia.    I am looking forward to being able to see my family interstate and hope to be able to visit them or have them visit me within the next few months.  What are you looking forward to?

We have a subscription to Parenting Ideas who offer webinars free of charge through our subscription. This Wednesday evening Dr. Kristy Goodwin is hosting a webinar on ‘Techno Tantrums’ and why children seem to combust when they are made to disconnect from their devices. She will offer ideas and strategies on how to overcome these battles.  Please see the flyer at the end of this newsletter for details on how to register and attend.  It starts at 8pm AEST so that is 7.30pm for us here in South Australia.

Our staff are currently finalising reports for Term 2 and these will be distributed at the start of Week 10.  This is to provide parents and caregivers time to read and digest the reports and then Three Way Interviews will be scheduled for Week 2 in Term 3 as a follow up to written reports.  Teachers have worked hard to ensure they have evidence and data on which to base their comments. In the instance that students have been absent for a prolonged period of time, a complete assessment may not be possible, so Three Way Interviews will be a great opportunity for follow up and clarifying conversations.   In the meantime, if you have any urgent questions in relation to your child’s report, please make contact with the relevant teacher through the Administration Office before the term ends on Friday July 3^rd.

Dear Pimpala Community

After careful consideration, I have decided to resign as Pimpala Primary School's Pastoral Care Worker, due to Medical/Health reasons.  This COVID-19 crises has helped me to make this decision, as I am at high risk.

I have loved my time working with the Pimpala staff, students and families.

I have valued every minute of my time here at Pimpala, building relationships and offering and providing support, establishing friendship groups and hosting games sessions at lunch time.  I only wish I had had more time to be able to make a bigger difference.

I will miss each and every one of you and wish you as part of the Pimpala School Community all the best in the future.

On Friday, 3rd July there will be a Crazy Hair Day - so wear a different hair style, or different hair colours, create a new character, even put things in your hair to make a statement or you could wear a hat you wouldn't normally wear! Be creative! Let's have some fun!

The cost to participate is a gold coin donation.

Proceeds will go to  Puddle Jumpers which is a non-profit, non-government organisation committed to responding to the social development needs of society's most vulnerable children and young people. They believe that all kids matter and deserve the right to engage in happy and fun experiences in their life.

Pimpala students are welcome to come  for brekky at Breakfast Club!

Come along and join Brendan and Larry, our Social Work students, in the kitchen for breakfast. The kitchens will be open from 8:30am to 8:45am, Monday to Friday on regular school days.

There will be a number of food options including Weetbix, canned fruit, fresh fruit, toast and yoghurt.

 Feel free to come and have breakfast and bring your friends too!  What a great way to start the day.

Make sure you get busy over the next few weeks and during the school holidays and enter Nat Cook's Colouring In Competition. 

There will be two winners per school in the groups:

• Reception – Year 2
• Year 3 – Year 5

Winners will receive Derwent Colour Pencils and will be announced in Term 3. Entries will be displayed in Nat Cook MP’s electorate office.

Please note double sided printing is required to ensure student and parent permission details are included with entries.

 The theme for 2020 is “Bugs, Butterflies or Beetles” and we can’t wait to see what the students come up with. This will be something for the students to think about and finalise in their school holidays.

Nat Cook MP's Colouring Competition

Nat Cook will attend an assembly in Term 3 (COVID-19 restrictions permitting) to give out the prizes.
