In our Student Leadership Assembly last month we presented our nominated leaders with their badges and they have been very active already in leading and organising events. These are some of the recent events:
On Wednesday March 3 we had our own school version of Clean Up Australia Day which our Environment Advocates were involved with.
On Friday March 5 we had Sports Day and our Sports House Captains and Vice House Captains were very busy in the lead up to this and during the day.
On Wednesday March 10 our ATSI students represented our school as participants in Nunga Tag, held at South Adelaide Footbal Club and by all accounts it was a fabulous day.
Today our Student Representative Council members from Years 3 -7 attended the GRIP Student Leadership event at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre and have plenty of ideas to bring back and discuss at school.
Our other student leaders have been busy and contribute to our school by putting up our flags, assisting in the Library, mentoring younger students, supporting Festival Choir, setting up and running assemblies and helping in the canteen.
Our student leadership roles challenge individuals to develop a sense of vision and purpose as they take on responsibilities and use decision making skills. They develop interpersonal and intrapersonal skills including communication, negotiation, team work and reflection. We look forward to seeing them grow and develop as leaders for now and the future.
Kind Regards

We are seeking donations of items to sell at our Mother’s Day Stall for our wonderful mothers, grandmothers and special others in our lives. We are looking for some new great items which would make lovely presents.
Mother’s Day is Sunday, 9th May (the end of Week 2, Term 2). We appreciate your generosity.
Aussie of the Month - February 2021
Last year we introduced Aussie of the Month at Pimpala PS which recognises personal endeavour, achievement and contribution to the community and reflects some of the values we share as Australians, such as fair go, mateship, respect and inclusion.
Aussie of the Month is a primary school recognition program, that's been running for more than 20 years and is delivered by the same network that presents the Australian of the Year Awards.
Aussie of the Month reflects school values and encourages:
- an appreciation of the diversity and depth of personal contribution
- achievement possible within your school
- concern and consideration for all members of the school community
Each month, staff nominate students as candidates Aussie of the Month and then a student is elected to receive this special award to celebrate their commitment to the values we embrace at our school. The student to receive this award for the month of February is Madison B from 3/4 Wickham/Dixon.
Madison received our Aussie of the Month award for:
Always being respectful towards others. She shows compassion and care when working with her classmates and is a great role model for the school values.

Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program Update - Term 1
This term has seen the Year 5/6 classes participating in the kitchen garden program.
Students have enthusiastically embraced gardening lessons and have completed a variety of tasks such as tidying, watering, harvesting, seed saving, planting out new fruit trees and native edibles as well as moving and dismantling garden beds to make way for new ones!!
We have had a bumper crop this summer which has included a variety of tomatoes as well as herbs and stone fruits. The chest freezer in the Stephanie Alexander kitchen is full of poached, stewed and prepared fruit as well as tomatoes. This will enable us to utilize these beautiful ingredients throughout the year.
A taste of what our mini master chefs have been cooking up in the kitchen...

Wellbeing and Engagement Collection
Students in our school have been invited to take part in a survey being conducted in Term 1 2021. Please see the attached letter which provides key information about the survey.
Our school will participate in the Term 1 Wellbeing and Engagement Collection which will be open during Weeks 8 to 10 (Monday 22 March to Thursday 1 April 2021).
The survey asks students about their social and emotional wellbeing; school relationships and engagement and learning in school; and physical health and wellbeing and after school activities. Students’ answers will be kept confidential – no one (including school staff) will use the results to identify individual students.
Sports Day 2021 was one to remember! It was such a joy to have the whole community involved in a mass school event again. A massive thank you to all the teachers, SSO's, volunteers and Governing Council on helping Sports Day run smoothly. A special thanks to our groundsman Harrie for all his efforts leading up to Sports Day, the Rotary Club for lending us their BBQ and Deb Kemp for keeping tally of the House points throughout the day.
Congratulations to all BAIN students on winning the 2021 Pimpala Primary Sports Day, the first time since 2015! I also wanted to congratulate all the House and Vice captains on their efforts throughout the weeks leading up to and on Sports Day. They all spoke extremely well and should be proud, no matter the overall results. Well done to all Pimpala students on participating and giving their best efforts, it was fantastic to see students enjoying themselves in all the competitive events, whilst also demonstrating exceptional sportsmanship. As we found out, teachers are competitive too! Well done to the Teachers in the Teacher v House Captain's Relay! Better luck next year students. Lastly, thanks to everyone that came along on the day. It was amazing to see such a strong showing from the Pimpala Community.
