Thank you does not seem to suffice when situations arise as they did last Tuesday, and everyone needs to work together in a short time frame to plan, implement and work around limitations imposed for everyone's safety - but thank you!
Thank you to our families for your patience and persistence in learning from home.
Thank you to our staff for being flexible, creative and caring for all of our students while working to manage your own families.
Thank you to our students for your resilience in navigating different tasks and learning environments; for the respect you show to your families, teachers, SSOs and classmates and for remaining focused on your responsibilities as individuals.
As we meet and respond to every new situation, we become better thinkers, problem solvers, communicators and contributors which makes us great learners and members of a team. Thank you everyone.
New Staff
We recently advised that Mr. Richard Kemp had accepted an acting Deputy Principal position at Ascot Park for Term 3. As this was only announced on the last day of Term 2, we were unable to advertise for his replacment until this week. As of today, we can announce that Ms. Christine MacLean is the successful candidate for this position and she will start this position immediately. Mr. Troy Martinsen will be taking Ms. MacLean's class for the remainder of this term and will work closely with her to ensure continuity of learning.
We have received some additional funding to support the work of our Aboriginal Education Teacher Mrs. Deb Hampton which has increased her hours in this role. This means she will no longer provide HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences) lessons to our Junior Primary classes so we will be welcoming a new member of staff to the specialist team. Mr. Alex Long will be teaching Digital Technologies to students in Junior Primary for Terms 3 and 4. Alex comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience in this curriculum area and will start at Pimpala Primary this Friday.
Although we cannot start Jumpstart at Pimpala this week, we are welcoming back Mrs. Carol Thomas to our staff. Carol will be taking Miss Rachel Pullman's Reception class on Friday mornings while Miss. Pullman leads Jumpstart.
Kind Regards
Penny Wilde Belinda Finlay Smith Christine MacLean
Principal Deputy Principal Wellbeing Leader (acting)
Jumpstart At Pimpala - postponed
Jumpstart At Pimpala - our free targetted playgroup program for 3-5 year olds with their parents and caregivers has been postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions. We will publish a new start date as soon as possible and thank you for your patience and understanding.
Aussie of the Month recognise personal endeavour, achievement and contribution to the community and reflects some of the values we share as Australians, such as fair go, mateship, respect and inclusion.
It is a primary school recognition program, that's been running for more than 20 years and is delivered by the same network that presents the Australian of the Year Awards.
Aussie of the Month reflects school values and encourages:
- an appreciation of the diversity and depth of personal contribution
- achievement possible within your school
- concern and consideration for all members of the school community
Each month, staff nominate students as candidates Aussie of the Month and then a student is elected to receive this special award to celebrate their commitment to the values we embrace at our school. The student to receive this award for the month of June is Tore Z from 5/6 Burns.
Tore received his Aussie of the Month award for: dedication to his studies and sport through community and SAPSASA teams. He consistently upholds Pimpala values and leads by example.
Year 6 and 7 Transition to High School
This term enrolment offers for secondary school will be sent to the families of our year 6 and 7 students. It is important for you to know that not all schools will send out their enrolment offers at the same time, but they will be sent as close as possible to 13 August 2021.
Most families will receive their offer via email. If you think you have not received your enrolment offer from your secondary school, you need to check your junk folder for an email from education.noreply@sa.gov.au.
If you did not provide an email address on your Registration of Interest form, you will receive your enrolment offer in the mail or it will be handed to you by your child.
If your enrolment offer has not arrived by 18 August, please let the Administration Office know and we can follow up with the secondary school on your behalf.
If you need support to accept your enrolment offer, it is best to contact your allocated secondary school and they can step you through the process.
Year 3-5 students are due to participate in swimming lessons at the Noarlunga Leisure Centre during Week 3 of this term, Monday, 2nd to Friday, 6th August, subject to any COVID-19 restrictions.
At this time it is unclear whether the lessons will go ahead. The Department for Education has advised that any swimming and water safety lessons held at public pools should be cancelled or postponed for the remainder of this week.
The pool has its own safety plan and at this stage we will not know until at least Wednesday whether swimming lessons will be allowed to go ahead. We will let you know as soon as possible.
We appreciate your patience and understanding.
We have not been advised if our Year 3-7 camps scheduled for Weeks 5 and 6 will be cancelled. We are hopeful that they will go ahead and will advise families as soon as we are notified of a decision either way.
Canteen Arrangements for this week
Due to COVID-19 restrictions the canteen is closed for both lunch orders and the lunch time counter sales for the remainder of this week.
Canteen arrangements may return to normal from Week 3, subject to COVID-19 restrictions.
Thank you for your patience.
