What an amazing few weeks we have had at Pimpala Primary School!
Our Year 3 and 5 students completed their NAPLAN Assessments over the last two weeks, the resilience and dedication that our students demonstrated throughout this process was excellent. They managed technical difficulties and changes to schedules with confidence and courage. The results for these assessments are expected to be delivered to families at the end of Term 3.
It was fantastic to see our students participate in Sports Day on Friday last week. We had the perfect weather and it was especially great that we were able to have families’ onsite to cheer and support our students. It was exciting to speak to family members face to face and continue to form our connections to our community.
I would like to acknowledge Emily Mooney-Doe who organised the event and did a great job ensuring that it ran smoothly and that our students were prepared and engaged. There is a lot of work behind the scenes in a whole school event, thank you to everyone who supported Emily to make this one of our best sports days ever.
I would also like to acknowledge our Governing Council Members who supported Kylie in the canteen with our BBQ, we really appreciate you taking time out of your day to serve our community. I know I really appreciated my bacon and egg sandwich. Yum!
I will update families as soon as possible if COVID guidelines are updated this week. Until you receive this update please continue to follow our current guidelines. As I have mentioned previously the support from our community with these guidelines has been excellent.
Governing Council is meeting on Wednesday, 25 May at 7:00 pm in the STEM room, we invite members of the community to attend, you do not need to be a Governing Council Member to attend.

National Simultaneous Storytime
Pimpala Primary School will be participating in the National Simultaneous Storytime on Wednesday, 25 May. National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.
Family Tree is a sweet book written by Josh Pyke and illunstrated by Ronojoy Ghosh. It is a heartfelt celebration of family, community, and the seasons of life to cherish and to share.
Put this date in your diary for an after school conversation with your children about the story!
We are excited to be launching the innovative Children's University Adelaide program for our students this Thursday, 26 May, 2022. Children's University Adelaide offers educational experiences for children aged 5-14 and these achievements are recognised through the award of formal certificates and graduations.
Students will attend an information session during the day on Thursday and parents are invited attend an information session about the program two weeks later on the 9 June, 2022.
This exciting new innovative program is renown for it's success in assisting students in boosting academic achievement and increasing student ambition. Students are encouraged to explore and discover new ideas, concepts and experiences via Public and Restricted Learning Destinations and can choose topics they would enjoy.
Awards are based on effort, activity and time spent which allows access to everyone.
Christine MacLean will be the Children's University coordinator and will oversee the running and validation of Children’s University clubs or Restricted Learning Destinations in school.
Students who enrol in the program will be given a Passport to Learning which is where Children's Universtiy members collect their learning. Each activity is recorded along with the time spent, and validated with a stamp from the Learning Destination. As learning hours accrue, they build towards Children's University certificates awarded at graduations.
The cost to access the program is $16.50 (includes GST), per member per year. This includes a Passport to Learning, annual graduations as well as validating local Learning Destinations and access to the Children’s University website and Portal.
All students from Year 3 to 6 will attend an Information Session on Thursday, 26 May at 1:30pm. Junior Primary students can choose to attend too. If your child thinks they would be interested in undertaking the program then they can register and attend the session on Thursday, 9 June where they will be given their Passport to Learning. A parent/caregiver information session will also be held after school on Thursday, 9 June, 2022 at 3:30pm
Christine will be available to answer any questions you may have about Children's University from 27 May, 2022.

What a glorious day for Sports Day, although it did start a little on the cool side.
It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm and joy on everyone's faces throughout the day but for most, the chicken dance was one of the highlights.
Congratulations to Aysha C-H who was the highest fundraising student for our Colour Splatacular Run last term. Thank you and well done Aysha!
