From the Principal

What an absolute privilege it was to attend the Festival of Music a fortnight ago and see our Festival Choir perform as part of a combined public primary schools event which includes: 5400 choristers from 201 schools!  The feeling of joy when the curtain rises for the first time is overwhelming and seeing the spread of colours with the students on stage in their t-shirts is incredible.  If you have not yet had the opportunity to attend a Festival of Music performance, please consider it for 2020 as it is a wonderful celebration.  A big thank you to Mrs. Alyssa Rigney and Jenny Jackson for their leadership and organisation of our students and huge congratulations to our students, who were simply brilliant!

You may have noticed a new shade sail in our playground. Thank you to the members of our Governing Council for their work in fundraising for this and also to our POSHC who helped us with the final amount required to get it installed. It will be great to have this additional shade space for our students in the coming hotter months.

We are beginning the process of deciding our class structures for 2020. This year it will be particularly difficult as a number of our students are taking up the opportunity to start their high school journey as Year 7s at Wirreanda and Mitcham Girls High Schools. Our staffing is dependent upon student enrolments and at this stage, we will probably drop to 16 classes for next year, particularly while our student numbers settle over the next few years through this transition to high school for all Year 7 students. Your support in advising the office of changes to enrolment for next year is much appreciated and allows us to make plans with relative clarity.

It has been a busy third term and staff are already preparing for a shorter yet even busier fourth term. I hope the term break is a time for you to rest and spend quality time with loved ones in the sunshine, try something different or explore something new.

Kind regards

Penny Wilde

Principal
