From the Principal
Welcome back to all of our Pimpala Primary School community to Term 2. It’s been a really different and difficult time lately and I thank everyone for their support and energy as we traverse such unknown territory. Our students have made me so proud by stepping up to the challenge of being independent and dedicated learners, whether at home or at school. This demonstrates incredible resilience and commitment to learning. I thank all of our parents, guardians and family members who have supported and encouraged our students in continuing their learning journey and look forward to seeing where this work will lead us through the year.
On a personal note, I want to thank the amazing staff at Pimpala Primary School for the incredible way they worked together and supported each other not only last term but moving into this term. I want to publicly thank Mr. Richard Kemp for stepping into my shoes so I could be with my mum, who recently died from pancreatic cancer. The time I had with her is irreplaceable, as are the precious memories I have of her.
As we approach Mother’s Day this year, it will be with a difference for many of us due to the physical distancing rules in place for our safety. At school we have been unable to conduct our Mother’s Day stall so, in memory of my mum, I am setting a challenge for our students to create something as a dedication to their mum or, their grandma, older sister or person they think of as a mother figure. This creation can be written, drawn, built or composed - the only rules are it must be original and must be the work of the creator.
All entries need to be received by 9.30am Friday, 8th April for consideration by a panel of judges that morning. These creations do not need to be large or lengthy, they just need to come from the heart. The winning creation will receive a Willow Tree figurine to give to their special person for Mother’s Day on Sunday, 10th May.
Happy Mother's Day to all our mums and mother figures this Sunday.
Kind Regards
Penny Wilde
