From the Principal
Despite the continuing limitations of COVID19 on communities and our school activities, we are working to resume normal school routines for our students. Two weeks ago we had a whole school assembly where we recognised our new Student Representative Council members in the Junior Primary classes.
Congratulations to:
Oliver, Shilah, Nathan, Aria, Emily, Ruby, Max, Kiara, Tate, Mira, Scott and Ava on their nominations as Semester 2 representatives.
For our Reception classes, it was only their second time attending as assembly and their behaviour as audience members was amazing! We have individual student photos taken from our assembly, if any families would like a copy. Our Under 10 soccer team and coach were recently acknowledged by their opponents the Cove Sharks for their respect, team work and sporting spirit. The Cove Sharks team are still developing their soccer skills and although our team won convincingly, they provided their opponents with opportunities to get a kick of the ball and made the game a great learning experience. Great work by Zac, Eli, Zach, Torben, Oliver, James, Jordan, Millie, Jayden, Jamie, Paul and their coach Brad. It is wonderful that another team has taken the time to highlight this wonderful example of team work.
Last week our students in Years 3 - 5 attended Water Safety and despite it being a long and tiring five days, their behaviour as representatives of our school was fabulous. We have received incredible feedback from Flagstaff Coaches and the Noarlunga Leisure Centre regarding our students. We are always very proud of our students when they make positive choices when under pressure.
I recently reported that Mr. Michael Sboro was working in a leadership position at another school and was due to return to Pimpala in the middle of this term. This opportunity has been extended for the remainder of the term and we are fortunate that Mr. Henry Carey will continue his role as our Health Physical Education teacher and as classroom teacher on Fridays in 6/7.
Our Kitchen Garden program is running again this term with modifications to allow for COVID-19 requirements. Our SAKGP coordinator Michele Smith has obtained a few copies of a recipe book called 'Kids' Corner' by Anna Polyviou of Master Chef fame and we have one to give away to a lucky recipient. To be considered, please send through your favourite kid friendly recipe to dl.1059.info@schools.sa.edu.au or drop them into the Administration Office. Entries must be submitted by 9.30am this Friday August 28, 2020 to be considered and the winning entry will be selected by a panel of guest judges. The recipe that tantalises our taste buds the most will be judged as the winner!
