From the Principal

Despite the necessary adjustments this year, students and staff had a great time on Sports Day last Friday and the weather was so kind to us. The enthusiasm our House Sports Captains and Vice Captains brought to the day was evident in the cheering and encouragement of others throughout the day.  Although there can be only be one winner, thank you to all our students who gave their all and to our staff for your enthusiasm and energy.  There were some very tired individuals at the end of the day's events and reflects the great rate of participation by everyone - including the staff in their race at the end.  Congratulations to everyone and to O'Sullivan who was the winning house.  A big thank you to Mr. Carey, Mrs. Rigney and Harrie for the work that went in behind the scenes to prepare such a succesful day.

Final scores were:

Anderson - 7930,  Bain - 8260,  Morphett - 7060,  O'Sullivan - 8920

(Photos will be uploaded tomorrow.  Unfortunately we are experiencing technical difficulties today).

This Thursday a team of 30 students will travel to Christie's Beach High School to represent Pimpala Primary School in track and field events at the School Sport SA District Athletics Day and a small team of students will travel to Priceline Stadium to represent our school in School Sports SA Netball grand final.  We wish all of these students the best of luck.

Next term Mr. Richard Kemp will return from Coorara Primary School to the role of acting Wellbeing leader and Mr. Michael Sboro will be continuing his time at Noarlunga Downs Primary School as their acting Deputy Principal for the term. Staffing for the replacement of Mr. Sboro is not known at the time of publishing the newsletter and will be shared as soon as it is known.

Early in Term 4, we should have a new shed in place between the transportables and the ball wall.  This will be used to store items for our Loose Parts play area, which will complement the Nature Play space already created. Thank you to Credit Union SA, Governing Council and POSHC for your financial support with this development. We will be seeking donations from our community of any items in bulk which we can use as Loose Parts including, small pebbles, shells, leaves, pine cones, wood off cuts or any countable amount of small plastic items such as lids, beads or figurines.

For more information on Loose Parts Play please visit: https://natureplaysa.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Nature-Play-Downloads-Loose-Parts-Info-Sheet.pdf

I wish every member of our community a relaxed and restful holiday and look forward to seeing lots of happy faces at school on Tuesday 13 October.

Kind Regards

Penny Wilde

Principal
