The Education Department has implemented a policy regarding student use of mobile phones and personal devices at school. The policy is effective from the beginning of the 2021 school year, but there can be a transition period to allow sufficient time for local implementation.
Pimpala Primary School has implemented this policy from the beginning of the year and all students must give their phones to the teacher to hold in a secure location during the school day.
Under the department’s policy:
- primary aged students are not permitted to access their mobile phones and personal devices during the school day.
- schools with secondary enrolments will make local decisions about how and when students will be permitted to access their mobile phones and personal devices during the school day (if at all).
