By the end of this week, we will have a new shed in place between the transportables and the ball wall. This will be used to store items for our Loose Parts play area, which will complement the Nature Play space already created - thank you to Credit Union SA, Governing Council and POSHC for your financial support with this development.
We are still seeking donations from our community of any items in bulk which we can use as Loose Parts including, small pebbles, shells, leaves, pine cones, wood off cuts or any countable amount of small plastic items such as lids, beads or figurines.
For more information on Loose Parts Play please visit: https://natureplaysa.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Nature-Play-Downloads-Loose-Parts-Info-Sheet.pdf
Last Thursday a group of approximately 25 principals and directors from other schools in our partnership visited Pimpala Primary School. They were given opportunities to learn alongside some of our students in activities relating to phonemic awareness and oral language and were exposed to some teaching by our students in Auslan where they learnt some basic greetings and how to finger spell their own names. They were then able to enjoy the Art Gallery from Book Week in the Hall while our Festival Choir performed one of the songs from their repetoire - including a solo performance by Abi. Thank to you to all of our students and staff for making this a successful morning.
Last Friday we were very fortunate to have students from Wirreanda Secondary School's Specialist Sports Course visit out site and lead some of our senior students in sports rotations. These students were fabulously organised and knew exactly what they were doing with every session. Our staff were impressed by the responsibility shown by WSS students and our students loved the sessions. We look forward to having more opportunities such as this in the future.
Kind Regards
Penny Wilde
Principal
This year we introduced Aussie of the Month at Pimpala Primary School which recognises personal endeavour, achievement and contribution to the community and reflects some of the values we share as Australians, such as fair go, mateship, respect and inclusion.
Aussie of the Month is a primary school recognition program, that's been running for more than 20 years and is delivered by the same network that presents the Australian of the Year Awards.
The Australian of the Year Awards profile leading citizens who:
- are role models
- inspire us through their achievements and community participation
- challenge us to make our own contribution to the community
Aussie of the Month reflects similar values, and encourages:
- an appreciation of the diversity and depth of personal contribution
- achievement possible within your school
- concern and consideration for all members of the school community
Each month, the school staff will nominate students for Aussie of the Month and then one student will be selected by the Personnel Advisory Committee (PAC) to receive this special award and celebrate their commitment to the Australian values we embrace at our school.
The recipient of this award for the month of October is Jada from 3/4. She received our Aussie of the Month award for:
demonstrating the school and Australian values consistently. She is an excellent leader and role model to her peers and is always kind and understanding.
She received a certificate, a special badge and a great pencil pack as recognition of her award. Congratulations to Jada!
This year there are between 5 and 10 students in each class who do not have permission to have photos published.
Classroom teachers will often send home individual photos directly to the parent using the SeeSaw app so families can still be involved in what is happening in the classroom. However, if your child is involved in whole class or whole school activities, publishing those photos can be impossible.
This has had a major impact when trying to publish photos from events such as Sports Day, Assemblies, School Sports SA Events, sports teams, special events, awards and so on.
If you have not already done so, please download a copy of the Consent Form - Child/Student from our website, or grab a copy from the Administration Office and complete and return the form as soon as possible.
If you have already completed the form but not given permission for your child's photo to be published in the newsletter, but you would now like to change your mind, please contact the Administration Office as soon as possible. You are able to change you mind on any permissions at any time.
Pastoral Care Workers play a very important role in schools like ours. Pimpala PS is looking for a new PCW for next year. Please see the attached poster and information to apply.
We welcome our 2021 Reception students for their Transition Visits for the next 3 weeks on Wednesday, 4th November from 9:00am - 10:40am; Wednesday, 11th November and Wednesday, 18st November from 9:00am – 11:30am. We hope you have a great time!
Last newsletter we published a very comprehensive article about how class placements are made. It also included frequently asked questions. If you have any questions about the process, please access last fortnight's newsletter in the first instance.
We are trying to confirm our numbers for next year. If you are planning to change schools next year or know of someone who plans to enrol, can you please let the class teacher or the Administration staff know.
We also need a registration of interest form for each child who will come to Pimpala PS in the future. Enrolment forms will be given out in the year of enrolment, as the forms are regularly updated and it is best practice to use the most current form for when your child starts school.
If there are any siblings, please complete a registration of interest form and bring it to the Front Office. It is never too early to lodge the form.
Principal Tours are available on the following dates. Please book in for a tour by ringing the school on 8326 0900.

As in past years, Pimpala PS is co-ordinating donations of canned and non-perishable food and presents for the Vines Uniting Church to distribute to families that need support. These items are used to make hampers for the less fortunate in our community. We are very grateful to The Vines for organising this.
Let’s make it a great time for everyone this Christmas by bringing something to help struggling families. Please bring items including canned food, packet food or unwrapped new presents and toys to the Administration Office to put in the Christmas Hamper Donations box.
Thank you to everyone who has donated spare clothes to our spare clothes supply. We really appreciate it. In fact, your generosity has been so great that we have no more room for spare clothes - except for size 4-8 boys long pants which we are always running out of. Thank you.

All classes are working on their performances. Some classes will perform on their own, while others will join together for a fusion of talent.

Year 6 and 7 students going to high school (including private schools) in 2021 will have celebrate their graduation at the Graduation Ceremony and dinner on Thursday, 10th December.

We are looking closely at a COVID-19 safe plan for the gymnasium and may need to limit the number of guests. The gymnasium is very large so we are hoping for minimal issues. However, NO decision has been made as yet about what this may look like.
