If you haven't seen the posts on our Facebook page or missed the push notification and email last week, Pimpala Primary is the grateful recipient of a $12 million upgrade for facility upgrades! The areas being considered are:
- contemporary learning areas designed for collaboration and flexibility, to replace existing aged buildings
- new administration areas.
Plans for this upgrade have not commenced yet and the timeline for the process will be shared as soon as the details are confirmed. The upgrade is likely to take more than an year but the results will definitely be worth it.
The infrastructure project will provide our students world-class learning facilities and the upgrade comes in addition to the state government's $1.3 billion investment in education infrastructure. For more information, visit the Department for Education website.
We have welcomed several new Student Support Officers (SSOs) to our staff; Lia, Jodie and Jess. They are working across all areas of the school but predominantly in the middle and upper primary classes. Please say hello to them when you see them around the school.
As we head into the Term 2 holiday, please take care and enjoy the time with your children. We are aware that COVID-19 is creating frustrations with restrictions changing in response to community needs within the state and beyond. If anything changes for schools, we will keep you informed through our Facebook page and notifications through Schoolzine. You can stay informed through the SA Health website of any updates: COVID-19 Response | SA.GOV.AU: COVID-19
Kind Regards

Scavenger Hunt with our Pastoral Care Worker
School Holiday Scavenger Hunt.
During the school holidays let’s all go on a scavenger hunt and find items around the house and outside. There will be prizes for the 4 students who show the most creativity in their finds. Submit photos of your finds to Pastoral Care Worker, Sarah Mewett on Sewsaw or draw or write your answers down and submit it to my letterbox in the front office in Week 1 of Term 3.
- Find something that contains as many colours of the rainbow as possible
- Find something starting with the first letter of your name
- Be creative and make, build or draw using your imagination!
- Find something that is made out of recycled materials
- Tell me one of the books you have read these holidays
- Find a pattern or make your own pattern
- Tell me something that makes you happy – do you have favourite place to play or a favourite food or what activity makes you happy?
- Tell us a random act of kindness you have done these holidays – what does kindness mean to you?
I look forward to seeing all the items you find.
Enjoy your holidays

Camp is approaching very quickly. It will be held in Week 5 and 6 of next term. We are looking forward to participating in team-building activities and having the opportunity to strengthen relationships. We would love for each child to attend as the benefits of participating are strong friendships and life skills which continue for the year and beyond.
The students from Ms Wickham, Ms Yates, Ms Stanley and Ms Power’s classes will be attending camp on the 16th, 17th, 18th of August.
The students from Ms Rigney, Mr Burns, Ms MacLean and Mr Branson’s classes will be attending camp on the 23rd, 24th, 25th of August.
The total cost for the camp is $250 per student, which is due in full by Monday 30th July. Payments can be paid via the Qkr! App which will also include the consent form that will need to be filled out.
Please ensure all Health Care Plans are up to date and that medications are within their use-by date. Students will take their school-based medications with them to the camp. Failure to have a valid Health Care Plan signed by a doctor and appropriate medication could result in your child not being able to participate in the camp.
We are looking forward to a great camp filled with lots of fun and rewarding learning experiences. If your child can not attend please let the classroom teacher know.
Knockout Boys Football
In weather that most would describe as a typical Melbourne day, Pimpala boys from Yrs 5/6/7 got their Knockout Football campaign off to a flying start.
Played at Christies Beach Primary, four schools converged to see who would advance to the next round – Pimpala, Christies Beach, All Saints and Port Noarlunga.
Our first game saw us pitted against All Saints. From the start it was one-way traffic with Pimpala dominating the contest. By half-time, the game was already over with Pimpala leading by 10 goals. The second half was much the same with Pimpala booting another 9 goals. All Saints did hit the scoreboard towards the end of the game, but it was too little, too late.
Pimpala Demons 19.3-117 def. All Saints 1.2-8
Game 2 was going to define our day and through strong play it was a positive outcome. Christies Beach started strong but could not hurt us through scoreboard pressure and eventually, once we scored, the floodgates opened. As Christies Beach head’s started to drop our confidence grew and we piled on the goals. Again, Christies Beach hit the scoreboard late in the game but it made little difference.
Pimpala Demons 14.7-91 def. Christies Beach 2.0-12
Game 3 was make or break. A win would put us straight through to the next round, while a loss would see percentage used to determine the winner. With the oval resembling a quagmire, Port Noarlunga’s team with a large contingent of soccer players, decided that keeping the ball on the ground was going to be their best chance of winning. But, how wrong they were with our soccer players showing superior football (and soccer) skills to dominate the score line. Port Noarlunga were definitely our fittest opponent and kept the game on edge but, like All Saints and Christies Beach, they struggled to score against our defence.
Pimpala Demons 10.6 def Port Noarlunga 1.2-8
In what was truly a team performance throughout the day, Pimpala showed excellent teamwork and inclusion to dominate their opposition. It was an effort that every player should be proud of. Well done boys.
Special thanks must go to Adam Cunningham and Jimmy Emmerson for goal umpiring our matches and the other parents (and grandparents) that came out to support.
Stay tuned for our next opponent as we move into the next round.
Let's Introduce Ourselves - Governing Council - Anna Bren
My name is Anna Bren.
I have 2 children who attend Pimpala Primary school, one in year 1 and the other in year 3.
I’ve been on Governing Council since my first child began at Pimpala.
Being on Governing Council means I’m aware of what’s happening at the school and why.
I get to have my say and often have input into important decisions that impact my kids.
I encourage any parent to join the Governing Council or if you see me in the yard, please feel free to introduce yourself and let me know anything you would like brought up at a Governing Council meeting.
Thanks

The SRC has organised a CRAZY HAIR DAY on Friday, 2nd July, 2021, the last day of Term 2. How exciting! What a fun way to celebrate the last day of school.
You've got a few days to come up with a creative to way to wear your hair on Friday so be creative and think outside the square or just be plain and enjoy the fun anyway! It is always amazing to see what people come up with.
Now for the serious stuff.
Proceeds will support families in our school community by supplying food hampers in a food drive.
Please bring a gold coin donation and/or donate a non-perishable food item to be placed in the collection boxes in each unit.
Here are some ideas.
Wonder White Bread Tag Collection
Please help support our school by collecting and donating bread tags and bread bags! All brands are accepted.
