Children learn a lot in the early years of life and Jumpstart at Pimpala aims to provide opportunities for parents and caregivers to be involved in their child’s development in a supportive environment; helping to give your child a great start.
The program is run by our Reception teachers along with support staff.
Jumpstart at Pimpala aims to:
- build confidence and self esteem
- help develop skills in talking, listening and speaking
- support parents and caregivers to build their child's physical, social and emotional skills
- improve the transition to school experience
- enrich earlhy literacy and numeracy skills
- establish quality relationships
The program assists our staff to get to know you and your child by:
- finding out about your child’s interests
- acknowledging the skills your child has already learned
- supporting you to identify areas of need and what supports may be available.
We acknowledge parents and caregivers as a child’s first and foremost educator and know that your involvement in this playgroup will assist us to establish positive relationships.
You and your child will be involved in a play-based program which incorporates gross and fine motor development and opportunities to develop positive relationships with Pimpala Primary School staff and students.
WHAT TO EXPECT?
It's all about having fun!
Parents and caregivers, teachers and children playing alongside each other, having fun and learning together through a variety of programs and locations within the school including the library, STEM building, hall, garden and loose parts play area. This is a fantastic opportunity to become familiar with the school environment while giving your child a jumpstart to school.
Children 3-5 years old with parents/caregivers
Please note: younger siblings are welcome to attend sessions under parents/caregiver's supervision.
WHEN AND WHERE
Sessions are held weekly on Friday mornings meeting in the library from 9:00-10:30am, (except for the last day of each term and if there is a conflict with school events), commencing in Term 3, on Friday, 13 August, 2021.
Children do not need to attend every session but bookings are required. You can do this by phoning 8326 0900, or by contacting us through the Pimpala Primary School Schoolzine app (SZapp).
